Thalapodichil : Various medicinal herbs selected according to dosha predominance is made into a paste and applied to the scalp for 30 to 45 minutes. This treatment is good for insomnia, premature greying and other problems to the hair and scalp.

Pizhichil Therapy : Pizhichil and Savangadhara are technically the same. Pizhichil literally means squeezing. Here a warm medicated oil is Squeezed onto the patient's body from a piece of cloth that is periodically soaked in a vessel containing the oil.

Navarakkizhi / Pinda Swedana : Navarakkizhi, Kerala's unique contribution to Ayurveda, involves fomentation of the body with a bolus of cooked rice.Shastika or Navara, a particular kind of rice know for its medicinal value,is cooked in milk and a herbal decoction made of Kurumthotti (Sida rhombifolia).

 
 

Karnapoorana : Karnapporana literally means filling the ears. As  Poorvakarma, the ear lobes are gently massaged with oil. The patient is then made to lie on one side.

Shirodhara : For carrying out Shirodhara - Dhara on the forhead, a Droni alone is not enough. A structure similar to a drip stand is used to suspend the vessel that holds the Dhara fluid.

 
 

Dhanyamladhara : An infusion prepared from certain cereals (Dhanya) and vinegar (Amla) obtained from citrus fruits is called Dhanyamla.

Dhara : Dhara is the continual pouring of warm medicated oil or a herbal decoction over the body. Dhara with oil is one of the major Ayurvedic therapies.

 
 

Shirovasti : Shirovasti is considered more of a palliative treatment than an eliminative  (Shodhana) one. As usual the treatment is preceded by oleation and sudation.

Nasya : The therapeutic administration of herbal oils, decoctions and powders through the nostrils is called Nasya.

 
 

ElaKizhi : Herbal leaves or powders are made in boluses and are applied on the whole body or a part specified after dipping it in warm medicated oils.This is done for 45 minutes daily for a period of 07 to 14 days.

Netravasti : Netravasti is a treatment for the eyes.To undergo this treatment the patient is made to lie on his back on the Droni.

 
 

Pichu : Pichu and Shirovasti are theoretically the same expect for the modes of application which vary. Both treatments are for ailments affecting the regions above the neck, aspecially due to disrupted Vata Dosha.

Urovasti : Urovasti is administered to the Uras or the chest to treat pain in the sternum area. As in Kativasti, a reservoir is built up on the chest with black gram paste.

 
 

Kativasti : The waist area of the body is called kati. Vasti in this case implies a container. Kativasti is an effective therapy for Katisula, which is the term for lower backache or stiffness or pain felt down the back.
